Clair de Lune

image

I made a logo for my brother’s violin ensemble in the school where he teaches – Clair de Lune. It’s his birthday today and this is his special request from me. I exceeded 10 more minutes just to make some extra touch-ups.  I love the moon so I truly enjoyed drawing this.

Happy birthday to my bro Edmond. 🙂

Missing my Cat’s Full Glory

image

I miss my cat’s liveliness.
He’s sick at the moment.
He lost appetite and won’t eat.
He used to be fat and healthy but now he’s so thin.
We let him stay in the vet to be treated.
But he’s still weak with weird behaviors.
I at least want to draw the fat and cuddly Doro.
I hope he’ll be well soon.

In my Pace

Hopping Girl with Balloons

Reaching out as far as I could go
To a place only my mind can reach…

I stopped, yes, I rested for a bit
But on and on I will go…

Never giving up.
Always starting once again.

There might be a lot of frustrations
From halted plans and miscalculations.

But it is all better than regret
And giving up with a fret.

The world may laugh at my pace.
And scorn when I try to find my place.

But this battle I will always pursue.
I may rest but still I will continue.

Until the thing of my imagination
Is something near its realization.

30 Minute Portrait – April

004 - April Salvador

Life is full of beauty.
Notice it. Notice the bumble bee,
the small child, and the smiling faces.
Smell the rain, and feel the wind.
Live your life to the fullest potential,
and fight for your dreams.
– Ashley Smith

The pretty girl on the portrait is April Salvador. I used her picture on the beach. I just love how the air messed with her hair . It doesn’t look exactly like that, but I guess I had fun drawing her hair.  If you want me to draw your portrait, don’t hesitate to tell me in the comments below. 🙂

Anyway I hope you are having fun. Have a great day!

30 Minute Portrait – Angelo

Angelo Maniquis

Laughter brightens a day,
Uplifts a soul, complaints go away.
Whoever you are, in whatever state you may be,
Find your happiness and let it be!
– Melonaide

The guy in the portrait is Angelo Maniquis, the owner of the blog Fete Design and Print. He’s a versatile artist who takes photos and videos of events, and he makes other souvenir items worth checking out. And it also happens to be his birthday today.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANGELO! 😀

PS: I used charcoal pencil this time, a regular graphite pencil and a small piece of cotton for shading. I’m starting to get the hang out of drawing fast portraits. Just let me know if you want me to make you a portrait too in the comments below. This the 3rd out of 300, I sure will need a lot more faces. lol.

I hope you like it. Have a great day!

30 Minute Portrait : Angela and her son

Angela Nevitt

“A mother is the truest friend we have,
when trials heavy and sudden fall upon us;
when adversity takes the place of prosperity;
when friends desert us;
when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us,
and endeavor by her kind precepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness,
and cause peace to return to our hearts.”

― Washington Irving

This is a portrait of a beautiful woman who loves her son so dearly. She is Angela Nevitt the author of the blog oneincreation.  I’m not sure if I have drawn the resemblance well, but I sure hope I had captured the love going on between a mother and son.

If you want me to draw you a 30 minute portrait just tell me in the comments below. 🙂

I hope you like it. Have a blessed Sunday!

30 Minute Portrait : Visia

Ate Vi

Hurray! Here goes the first portrait for my 30 minute art project. But not really the first ( see Timmy ).

The girl on the drawing is my sister-in-law, Visia. Even though I am still planning to do this little project of making fast portraits for study, she already asked me to do her portrait. Aside from that, it just happened to be her birthday yesterday. (Happy Birthday Sis!)

On the process of making this portrait, I was wondering what medium to use. I am even thinking of using ink or colored pencils. But I might not finish it on time so, the fastest medium is just the simple and common graphite pencil.

And oh btw, you may find it a bit similar to Artboy68’s 100 portrait project although mine is under time pressure.. lol XD.
That artist is amazing! Do check his art out.

As for me, this is just a simple study on doing fast portraits for practice. I tend to be a little too perfectionist on my art that I consume a lot of time on every commercial portrait that I do. In doing this, I hope to be able to discover my own art style and make it a little more spontaneous and fun.

I hope you like my drawing! If you want me to draw your portrait just let me know on the comments below. 🙂

Have a great day!

In Due Season

Red Rose

“Let us not become weary in doing good,
for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

Galatians 6:9 (NIV)

Admittedly, I’m a little disoriented this past week…I spent time googling a lot of things for a lot of questions that keep popping on my head. But sometimes, the answer we seek cannot be found anywhere. And the answer could be a stupid one phrase answer that could take you back to your senses. I tend to rush things that it’s so easy to forget to breathe (figuratively speaking :P). It’s so easy to feel frustrated, “why am I still like this?” or something like “when will I ever do some progress?” I guess there’s comfort in believing that there’s a proper time for everything, and that if we keep on keeping on, we’ll eventually be where we wanna be. 🙂

Have a great day!

The Thin Thread of Connection

Get Connected

Have you ever find yourself changing too much
there is a very visible distinction between the past and the present you?

And with this thought in mind you wonder what you would become in the future?

Have you ever felt disconnected, that reading your old journals
is like reading another person’s life?

Have you been denying the part of yourself that  you don’t like much?
And because of it you have this unknown uncertainty you can’t figure out?

Wondering if you’re on the right track? If this is what you wanted 5 years ago?
And wondering if what you’re doing is something you’ll like for the next 5 years?

If yes, we have to search for that thin thread of connection deep within us,
Just like a complicated network of nerves constantly functioning, keeping you alive.

Hack it, decode it and try to access it,
In this life we face noise and confusion from day to day.

We see ads here and there of superfluous things we don’t really need.
We are surrounded and drenched in a sea of mediocrity where people that  stand out are seen as idols.

But what is it that truly matters?
What are things that you truly and subconsciously want?

Stop for a moment.
Reflect.
Relax…with a cup of smiles.
Have a great day!

PS: I can’t think of something to draw, so for today, I just played around with MS Paint’s air brush just using my mouse. Nothing special really. It’s inspired by a telephone cord. Somehow it looks like “elo” to me. (Short for hello). ^^

Shoot it, Sketch it: Yawning Doro

Yawning Doro1

Yawning Doro

This is my cat Doro, short for “Dorotheo the Great“,
formerly called as Dorothy when we thought he was a girl until he grew up with balls. LOL.

Yesterday, I browsed some blogs in the Art tag and I saw something interesting –  “Shoot it, Sketch it” in Bec’s blog (Clouds of Colour). It’s where you capture a photo and then draw it. I think this will be a great Monday regular post. This photo took me an hour to create. But I still didn’t get the ear right or the head proportion. haha. Well, I guess Doro can forgive me for that…(or else he’ll be deprived of his beloved food).  Just kidding, don’t sue me for animal rights! lol. 😀

I hope you enjoyed my Monday post, have a great week ahead! 😀
