Shoot it, Sketch it: Yawning Doro

Yawning Doro1

Yawning Doro

This is my cat Doro, short for “Dorotheo the Great“,
formerly called as Dorothy when we thought he was a girl until he grew up with balls. LOL.

Yesterday, I browsed some blogs in the Art tag and I saw something interesting –  “Shoot it, Sketch it” in Bec’s blog (Clouds of Colour). It’s where you capture a photo and then draw it. I think this will be a great Monday regular post. This photo took me an hour to create. But I still didn’t get the ear right or the head proportion. haha. Well, I guess Doro can forgive me for that…(or else he’ll be deprived of his beloved food).  Just kidding, don’t sue me for animal rights! lol. 😀

I hope you enjoyed my Monday post, have a great week ahead! 😀

Go Placidly Amid Noise and Haste

Go Placidly

There’s just too much noise, chatter and confusion…
Sometimes our thoughts are louder than our surroundings.
Our eyes filter the world according to what our mind perceives.
Whether it’s fear or courage, sadness or joy, it’s for us to decide.
The key to our own mind and heart is in our hands.

Take charge. Drive your life. Find peace.

Bounce back

When you hit against the wall,
Don’t let it break you or destroy you.

Bounce back.

When you slip on a deep dark pit,
Don’t let it summon you or eat you alive.

Bounce back.

When you take a wrong turn and lost your way,
Don’t go insane or make it blow your mind away.

Bounce back.

When you fall into the vast unknown ocean  of terror and fear,
Don’t let it drown you, swim back up.

Bounce back.

Trip and fall, stand up tall.
Challenges are always there,
And so is success.

As long as you bounce back after you fall.

Flower Lady

Teach me how to see what my critical eyes fail to see,
The wonders and beauty all around me.
Teach me how to see the path that is hidden from me,
Its secrets and joys that is meant for me.
Let me hold the torch  of wisdom with the purest light,
And a beauty of  soul that can last through the night.
I might not last long, I might not be remembered.
But do know that I was once there and that I cared.

Bicycle Front Wheel

It’s never too late to learn something. I’m starting to dare myself to learn the things I wanted to learn one at a time. I don’t know how to ride a bike. The truth that I am not so proud of. I tend to envy the small children who play happily with their bike, I envy the gramps that rides the bike, and I envy everyone who can ride a bike! LOL. It is easy just to give up and say stuffs like ‘biking is not for me.’ But hey, I gotta be true to myself that I really wanted to learn.

So, for a start, I bought a second hand bike. The space available around my house is just a small pathway. It is dangerous for me to try to learn on the streets, I might be run over by a vehicle. Of course, I don’t like that.  So, the bike stood on display for like three months with me wondering how I will ever learn it by myself. So, I searched for an instructional video. Luckily, that video is so easy to do, it gives me a bit confidence to try it. And the fact that the one on the video is not a young lady, it gives me the confidence that I might learn it.

I tried it today. I bumped to the plants on our small pathway. I did it over and over again despite the bruises I get from the pedals hitting my legs. I get bruises so easily and I even broke  a plant pot. Haha. But anyways, I think it’s all worth it. I get to learn how to ride it! Although I can’t ride it smoothly just yet. I’m glad I can ride it finally! 😀

If there’s something you wanna learn, it’s never too late to try. 🙂

I copied this from a children’s book about frogs. I have no idea if what kind of frog that is but I thought he’s nice to draw today. 🙂

Have a great day!

There is a Time for Everything

There is a time for everything,
and everything on Earth has its special season.
There is a time to be born and a time to die.
There is a time to plant and a time to pull up plants.
There is a time to kill and a time to heal.
There is a time to destroy and a time to build.
There is a time to cry and a time to laugh.
There is a time to be sad and a time to dance.
There is a time to throw away stones and a time to gather them.
There is a time to hug and a time not to hug.
There is a time to look for something and a time to stop looking for it.
There is a time to keep things and a time to throw things away.
There is a time to tear apart and a time to sew together.
There is a time to be silent and a time to speak.
There is a time to love and a time to hate.
There is a time for war and a time for peace.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 (NCV)

Rain Clouds

I love the rain, I always do.
The droplets that come from the sky are so lovely to watch.
And the tingling sound  that it produces are so relaxing to hear.
All the heat coming from the ground
Dissipate at it welcomes the cool breeze in the air.
It quenched the thirst of every plants and trees,
As they happily dance to the beat of the bouncing raindrops.

Stellar Plant

This plant is similar to my current background image which is also drawn by me. I was thinking that it would be lovely if there is a plant that glows like a firefly. I think it is called “Bioluminescence“, same as the plants in the movie Avatar, where plants glow when touched at night time or in the darkness. So cool right? 🙂

The drawing looks rough because honestly, I am so sleepy while drawing that. But anyways I hope you like it.

Have a great day! 🙂

Anger Flames

“Don’t leave your job just because your boss is angry with you. Remaining calm solves great problems.” Ecclesiastes 10:4 (NCV)

I was surprised to see that there is actually a quote like that in the Bible. I’m just merely scanning the pages of the Bible looking for an interesting quote. It is surprising to see bits and pieces tackling practical living on it. I thought all Biblical scriptures are just about God. It is also written for us like a guide to our lives.

Most of the time, when someone is mad at us, we get mad too. It’s a natural response. Although if we may be on the wrong side, once we are overly reprimanded for it we tend to defend our wrong doings making it appear right just because we are mad at the way they tell us how wrong we are. I’ve seen it happen many times. Especially if that happens between a boss and an employee. It’s so easy to give in to our anger. It is a force so strong that it can either push us to act or push us to destroy.

I guess it always pay to stay silent when in great anger. It’s when you may say things you might regret later. And, never ever make a decision when mad. Let everything cool down a bit and then act. Doing this can make a big difference.

So, that’s my Bible Sunday post for today. Stay happy! 🙂
